Columbian Chemicals Company - Manager, Six Sigma Projects

Columbian Chemicals Company (a subsidiary of Phelps Dodge - http://www.phelpsdodge.com) is seeking a Manager, Six Sigma Projects, for its Atlanta, GA area facility.

Major Responsibilities: To provide Six Sigma methodology support for all QFZ projects. Develop Project Leaders. Serve as project leader for large, multi-geographic projects.

  1. Assist “Process Leaders” with QFZ project selection/justification in support of key business goals/objectives.
  2. Develop project leaders to manage QFZ projects. Including training, monitoring, and data analysis applications.
  3. Support QFZ projects with respect to project tracking, team dynamics, statistical tools, and identifying savings.
  4. Serve as Project Leader for comprehensive, multi-plant projects. No more than two at any given time.
  5. Assist “Process Owners” with KPI analyses in their normal business process (outside OFZ realm).
  6. Participate in QFZ awareness training creation and delivery.
  7. Work with each plant on QUEST project selection/execution/savings calculations.
  8. Contribute to the planning process for developing and maintaining the Six Sigma Culture.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Black Belt Certification. Completed multiple Six Sigma projects.
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Chemistry or Business.
  • 5 years in CB industry or applicable manufacturing experience.
  • 3+ years managing multiple projects.
  • International training and project coordination experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and team building skills.
  • Self-starter. Works well in unstructured environment.
  • Good business sense. Big Picture viewer.
  • Line management responsibility.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experienced with statistical software packages.

Specialty Chemicals Manufacturer requires Six Sigma Program Manager and Product Development Engineer. Privately held Ohio based manufacturer of specialty chemicals is searching for two key employees to take their business to the next level. The background of these individuals will include an Advanced Technical Degree, Black Belt in Six Sigma, Chemical Engineering Degree and a strong track record in project management.

As the PROGRAM MANAGER, you will be responsible for leading the organizations Six Sigma projects to optimize, stretch capacity and problem solve in all areas of the business. Past experience in new product development, improving manufacturing quality and optimizing the sales and distribution process in required. The ideal candidate needs to be driven with a high degree of integrity, project management, business analysis, and problem solving and leadership skills. This is a key position in the organization reporting directly to the CEO.

As the PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of developing new products and improving existing products. Past experience in improving raw materials, plant equipment and manufacturing procedures is required. This position requires a BS in Chemical Engineering and 3-5 years experience in utilizing scientific methods, project management and acting as a product and methods development leader. You will report to the Director of R/D and be responsible for the development of the formulators and technicians.
